«Lo scopo delle attiviste – ha detto la giudice Agnieszka Warchol – era quello di mostrare il loro sostegno alle persone Lgbt, di lottare per avere uguali diritti». La magistrata ha anche riferito di numerose lettere inviate alla Corte da cattolici praticanti e componenti del clero, per i quali l’aureola arcobaleno non costituiva affatto un’offesa al sentimento religioso o alla figura di Maria.
Prima che fosse emessa la sentenza, attivisti Lgbt si sono riuniti all’esterno del tribunale reggendo uno striscione con la scritta L’arcobaleno non offende. Elżbieta, Anna e Joanna hanno rischiato fino a due anni di carcere ai sensi dell’articolo 196 del Codice penale polacco, che vieta di offendere il sentimento religioso.
