Per il secondo anno a Reggio Emilia si terrà presso la parrocchia di Regina Pacis una veglia di preghiera “per il superamento dell’omofobia, della transfobia e ogni forma di intolleranza”.
Fissata al 20 maggio in occasione della Giornata mondiale contro l’omotransfobia (17 maggio), la manifestazione religiosa sarà caratterizzata dalla riflessione della teologa e pastora battista Lidia Maggi. Un evento, al contempo, in linea di continuità con quel ciclo di lezioni sulla teologia delle donne che, organizzato dal Gruppo Amiche di Reggio Emilia in collaborazione con Cammini di speranza e l’associazione Fondo Samaria, ha visto susseguirsi (dal 18 dicembre 2017 al 23 aprile scorso) presso l’Hotel Astoria nomi dal calibro di Selene Zorzi, Teresa Forcades, Antonietta Potente e Maria Soave Buscemi.
Ma la veglia di preghiera è stata presa d’attacco da alcuni cattolici tradizionalisti che, costituitisi per l’occasione nel Gruppo di preghiera “20 maggio”, hanno annunciato un’opposizione «all’evento in maniera attiva, anche con preghiera di riparazione» alla luce di quanto stabilito in maniera definitiva dal Catechismo di San Pio X.
Una riedizione di quanto già verificatosi nel 2017 allorquando, sotto il nome di Comitato Beata Giovanna Scopelli, per lo più le stesse persone indissero pubbliche preci soddisfattorie, il cui culmine fu costitutito dalla processione in concomitanza col REmiliaPride del 3 giugno. Non senza attacchi reiterati a don Paolo Cugini, responsabile dell’Unità pastorale 5 di Reggio Emilia e parroco pertanto di Regina Pacis, colpevole ai loro occhi d’aver organizzato la veglia di preghiera e aver costituto un gruppo di cristiani Lgbt.
I toni assunsero una tale virulenza da costringere il vescovo di Reggio Emilia Massimo Camisasca a uscire da un riserbo attendista: fu così che il presule, nello scendere in difesa del sacerdote e della bontà della veglia di preghiera da lui organizzata, spese al contempo parole di vicinanza agli organizzatori della susseguente processione riparatrice (pur sconfessandone però la personale partecipazione) e ribadì la dottrina cattolica in materia di omosessualità con riferimento al Catechismo del 1997. Un non facile equilibrismo per il vescovo d’estrazione ciellina e sostenitore di Courage in diocesi che, giorni dopo il REmiliaPride, era pur sempre a Correggio a partecipare a una delle tante tappe delle conferenze-concerto di Amato-Povia.
Ma ciò non ha salvato quest’anno Camisasca dalle accuse di cerchiobottismo da parte dei cattolici tradizionalisti locali. Per il 31enne Alessandro Corsini, infatti, responsabile del Gruppo di preghiera-riparazione 20 Maggio, se la partecipazione della pastora Maggi aggrava il tutto per «l’orientamento interreligioso-pancristiano dell’evento» sulla base di testi magisteriali quali il Sillabo di Pio IX, la Mortalium animos di Pio XI e l’Orientalis ecclesiae di Pio XII, è parimenti insostenibile la precedente partecipazione del vescovo di Reggio Emilia all’incontro del 16 aprile coi cristiani Lgbt presso la parrocchia di Regina Pacis. Perché per Corsini «a chiamata alla santità per una persona con tendenze omosessuali passa inevitabilmente dallo sposare la castità assoluta».
Sulla questione è intervenuto Alberto Nicolini, presidente del locale comitato d’Arcigay, che ha dichiarato ai nostri microfoni: «Non ci interessano le diatribe interne a correnti ecclesiastiche, ma i fatti: da una parte uno sparuto gruppetto di reazionari, nel senso che non esistono se non quando reagiscono ad altri, e dall’altra un parroco che ascolta le persone e offre comprensione e guida nell’accettare sé stessi o un familiare. Arcigay Reggio Emilia non può che abbracciare un gruppo di sostegno alle persone Lgbti e in particolare un evento che pone la visibilità e la lotta all’omofobia interiorizzata al centro.
Personalmente ho grande stima di Don Paolo, conosco diverse persone che partecipano al gruppo e ne traggono enorme giovamento, e accompagnerò alla veglia alcuni ragazzi nigeriani gay che sono molto religiosi, e che sono sconvolti e felici che esista una chiesa che anziché perseguitarli, li accoglie e li chiama per nome».

Don Paolo, com’è nata l’idea di una veglia per superare l’omofobia e la transfobia?
Organizzata per la prima volta lo scorso anno in occasione della Giornata mondiale contro l’omotransfobia, la veglia è stata voluta quale momento forte di preghiera e condivisione alcuni mesi dopo la costituzione in parrocchia del Gruppo di Cristiani Lgbt. È stata fortemente osteggiata al pari di ogni attività connessa al Gruppo.
Come si è costituito il Gruppo di Cristiani Lgbt?
Il gruppo è stato costituito nel settembre 2016. È nato dalla richiesta di una coppia di genitori che avevano scoperto d’avere un figlio omosessuale. Dopo uno stato iniziale di disperazione si sono rivolti ad Agedo Parma e, rasserenatisi, mi hanno proposto di fare qualcosa a Reggio Emilia a sostegno di persone Lgbti e dei loro familiari. E così da un primo momento conviviale seguito da un incontro di preghiera si è sviluppata progressivamente quella realtà che è appunto il Gruppo di Cristiani Lgbt. Secondo uno stile ben preciso: mettere al centro la persona prima della dottrina.
Noi accogliamo le persone e le ascoltiamo indistintamente: non c’interessa da dove vengano e che cosa facciano. Lo stile, insomma, indicato da Bergoglio nell’Evangelii gaudium e nell’Amoris laetitia. Siccome tutti provengono da esperienze di discriminazione o di maltrattamento da parte di sacerdoti in Confessionale, abbiamo voluto dar loro l’idea di trovare uno spazio di Chiesa umana. Le persone che bussano alla nostra porta sanno di poter trascorrere delle ore in serenità tra una pizza e momenti di preghiera in comune. Sanno di potersi raccontare in tranquillità.
Che cadenza hanno tali incontri e come sono strutturati?
I nostri sono incontri mensili. Ci ritroviamo un lunedì alle 19:30: si mangia una pizza e poi si prega nella chiesa parrochiale. E arrivano sempre persone nuove: si avvicinano sia genitori di figlie o figli omosessuali – soprattutto mamme – sia coppie di gay e lesbiche. Il nostro gruppo ha due caratteristiche peculiari: la presenza numericamente significativa di donne lesbiche e l’inquadramento dello stesso (un caso quasi unico in Italia) nella pastorale ordinaria. Vengono al riguardo affissi gli avvisi sulle attività del gruppo e se ne dà notizia sul bollettino parrochiale, dove sono pubblicati anche articoli scritti da componenti del Gruppo dei Cristiani Lgbt. Da quest’anno accanto al percorso spirituale abbiamo avviato anche quello formativo: ogni 15 giorni ci si incontra, si leggono testi teologici e si avvia una proficua discussione. Incontri traseversali perché aperti a tutte e tutti i parrocchiani.
Qual è stata la reazione del clero reggiano?
La veglia dello scorso anno, anche se osteggiatissima da gruppi di destra, ha visto la partecipazione di dieci sacerdoti, alcune suore e tantissima gente. Durante l’anno la collaborazione scarseggia anche se agli ultimi incontri mensili hanno preso parte due sacerdoti.
E quella di mons. Camisasca?
Camisasca osserva con attenta cautela. Il vescovo ha partecipato in realtà a due incontri. Dopo una posizione molto rigida in occasione della veglia del 2017, lui ha accettato il mio invito a rendersi conto di persona di quanto avviene nei nostri incontri. La prima volta si è fermato solo per la pizza. La seconda volta, cioè il 16 aprile, ha preso anche parte al momento di preghiera. Ha detto cose molto belle sul mistero della persona, sulla necessità dell’accoglienza.
Che cosa pensa degli attacchi ricevuti dal Gruppo 20 Maggio?
Sono affermazioni che m’intristiscono soprattutto alla luce dei grandi atteggiamenti di apertura messi in campo da Papa Francesco.
E delle affermazioni sull’assoluta castità quale unica via d’uscita per le persone omosessuali alla luce anche di testi magisteriali?
Facciamo fatica noi preti a vivere la castità. Immaginarsi se la si può imporre a vita a persone laiche pur credenti.
È poi interessante il dato dei testi citati da questi soggetti con riferimento, ad esempio, alla partecipazione della pastora Maggi. Si dichiarano supercattolici e poi sono contro il Vaticano II, contro Papa Francesco. I testi che Corsini cita sono tutti antecedenti ai documenti conciliari. Ci bollano come eretici e poi loro stessi sono contro il Concilio e contro il Papa.
