Toccanti poi le testimonianze di Jean Pierre Moreno e di Malika Chaly, recenti vittime di omofobia.
Nel suo intervento Elio Vito ha sottolineato che «la bandiera di Forza Italia si intona bene con i colori della bandiera arcobaleno. Sono sorpreso di questa sorpresa nel vedermi qui e sono sorpreso soprattutto che il Parlamento stia perdendo tanto tempo per approvare una legge giusta, scontata che dovrebbe essere votata all’unanimità. Dividersi su questa legge mi pare francamente stupido. La mia presenza ha fatto scandalo e mi sorprende: ho votato a favore alla Camera e credo che Forza Italia debba votare a favore. Non capisco perché il centrodestra voglia fare una polemica su questa legge».
Presenti in piazza, fra gli altri, anche la deputata dem Barbara Pollastrini e il vicepresidente dei senatori del Pd Franco Mirabelli, per il quale «la festa di oggi pacifica e gioiosa non merita di subire la rabbia e l’oscurantismo di chi vuole lasciare le cose come stanno e lasciare nella paura chi vuole solo essere se stesso. Dopo oggi torneremo in Senato più convinti del fatto che stiamo portando avanti una battaglia giusta e di civiltà che serve a tutte e tutti, al paese intero per battere odio e violenza».
A margine della manifestazione Luca Paladini, portavoce dei Sentinelli, ha dichiarato: «Di tempo non ce n’è più, perché in questo paese sono 25 anni che aspettiamo una legge contro l’omotransfobia. Siamo a un passo: vediamo il traguardo vicino».
