Il progetto ha fornito i primi dati europei sulle discriminazioni da orientamento sessuale e identità di genere nello sport e ha promosso un manuale operativo per insegnanti e coach sull’educazione non formale attraverso tale ambito.In Italia, in particolare, il 41% degli sportivi Lgbti non rivela il proprio orientamento sessuale, mentre il 60% di chi pratica sport percepisce l’utilizzo di un linguaggio omo-transfobico.
Secondo la commissaria Dalli, che ha risposto al coordinatore Rosario Coco con una lettera del rappresentante dell’unità Non discriminazioni e integrazione Rom Szabolcs Schmidt, i risultati «forniscono un’importante panoramica della discriminazione subita dalle persone Lgbti nello sport. Lo sport è un campo in cui l’omofobia e la transfobia sono purtroppo ancora molto diffuse e progetti come questo continuano ad essere necessari per garantire che le persone Lgbti possano partecipare e praticare tutti gli sport senza essere discriminati o esclusi».
Per combattere la discriminazione delle persone Lgbti, si spiega nella missiva, «la Commissione ha presentato l’elenco delle azioni a sostegno dell’uguaglianza delle persone Lgbti il cui rapporto finale è stato pubblicato il 15 maggio. La Commissione sta attualmente sviluppando una strategia Lgbti per l’uguaglianza che verrà presentata entro la fine dell’anno. È stata inoltre creata una nuova task force per integrare l’uguaglianza, anche per le persone Lgbti, in tutte le politiche e i programmi della Commissione. A questo proposito – conclude – le raccomandazioni che escono dal progetto sono molto gradite. Vorrei ringraziarvi ancora una volta per averne condiviso i risultati e spero che continuerete a promuovere la parità Lgbt nello sport».
Le raccomandazione del progetto Outsport vertono in particolare sull’inclusione delle questioni Lgbti e la discriminazione da orientamento sessuale e identità di genere (Sogi) negli obiettivi guida del prossimo Piano di lavoro europeo per lo Sport, il documento di rifermento sulle politiche sportive generali per i Paesi Ue.
«L’intento del progetto Outsport era proprio quello di aprire una breccia sul tema fino a ieri troppo oscuro delle discriminazioni in ambito sportivo – ha commentato il presidente di Aics Bruno Molea -: vi siamo arrivati attraverso una ricerca e lo studio di un piano di formazione preciso. È per noi dunque motivo di grande orgoglio la sensibilità dimostrata dalla commissaria europea nel riconoscere il nostro impegno e il nostro ruolo e salutiamo di buon grado l’istituzione della task force, certi di poter continuare a dare il nostro contributo alla lotta alle discriminazioni da orientamento sessuale».
Contattato successivamente da Gaynews, Molea ha comunicato anche la sua adesione alla campagna Da’ voce al rispetto a sostegno della legge contro l’omotransfobia e la misoginia.
A congratularsi con Aics anche la presidente di Assist, Associazione Nazionale Atlete, Luisa Rizzitelli, tra le promotrici dalla campagna, che raggiunta dal nostro giornale ha spiegato: «Non posso che complimentarmi con l’associazione Aics, perché con questo importante e autorevole progetto ha reso possibile l’emergere dei crimini d’odio omolesbobitransfobici nello sport. Questo riconoscimento europeo è un punto di svolta importante è costituisce l’inizio di un percorso che dovrà portarci tutte e tutti ad affrontare un problema per troppo tempo sottaciuto».
