«Non vado alle dimostrazioni, non sto dicendo merda». Così la star del rap russo in riferimento all’ondata di proteste estive senza precedenti, che hanno avuto luogo nella capitale russa dopo l’esclusione dei candidati dell’opposizione.
Nella clip, che mostra una successione di luoghi emblematici della città visti dal cielo, il 36enne dice: «Mangio un hamburger alla salute di Sobyanin» (il sindaco di Mosca fedele al Cremlino) ed esalta una città «dove non ci sono i Gay Pride».
In tre giorni, il video è stato visto più di cinque milioni di volte e ha ricevuto 1.400.000 di dislike. Nei commenti molti hanno accusato il cantante di essere stato corrotto dal potere.
Sul suo account Instagram, seguito da 14.000.000 di persone, Timati ha spiegato: «Elimino il video in modo che questa ondata di negatività si interrompa. Non volevo ferire nessuno».
L’elezioni di domenica hanno provocato una terribile battuta d’arresto per Federazione Russia, il partito di Vladimir Putin, che, pur mantenendo la maggioranza, ha perso quasi un terzo dei seggi rispetto al precedente mandato.
Molto popolare in Russia, Timati aveva pubblicato, nell’ottobre 2015, un video-clip sulla Piazza Rossa di Mosca, eseguendo un brano il cui ritornello è «Il mio migliore amico è il presidente Putin». Nel dicembre 2018 quest’ultimo lo ha definito un «artista eccezionale».
