Il Partito Socialista svedese riunitosi a Congresso questa settimana approva una mozione a favore della possibilità di adottare per le coppie omosessuali. Con questa presa di posizione tutte le forze al governo sono favorevoli a tale norma.

Congress of Socialdemocratic party of Sweden says yes to adoption to same-sex couples
At the congress of the Socialdmocratic Party of Sweden, at present taking place in the town of Västerås in Sweden, a motion proposing a new legislation regarding the possibility for same-sex couples to adopt children was adopted by the congress.
At present the Socialdemocratic party is governing Sweden with the support of the Left Party and the Green Party, two parties that both have taken the position supporting the highly debated proposal, thus resulting in a parliamentary majority for the proposal.
Before the congress the board of the party had proposed a similar motion which excluded the possibility of international adoptions. The adopted amendment supported by for example the youth league and the students league include international adoptions and was adopted after a second count of the votes. A count that resulted in the numbers 166 for, 165 against and 11 delegates abstaining. The result of the first vote was 162-162, with 16 delegates abstaining.
The motion also included the possibility for artificial insemination in a public-health clinic for female same-sex couples and stepchild-adoption.
The minister of justice, Mr. Thomas Bodström of the Socialdemocratic Party of Sweden, has in statements following the decision commented that a proposal will be sent to the parliament of Sweden during the parliamentary session of spring 2002.
